The lights occasionally lose contact and turn off when adjusting the arms, requiring a slight readjustment to turn back on, and the arms have some stiffness that causes them to spring out of position at times, these are very minor quirks that don’t detract from an excellent product.
This kit has opened up new creative lighting possibilities for my photography. Highly recommended

I have now had the Adaptalux system for a few months and can now write an honest review. I see two advantages to this system: the very precise positioning of the light thanks to the arms, and total control over the brightness/diffusion of the light thanks to the Bluetooth Control Pod 3.0 and the different filters/diffusers.
I only encountered one problem where the pod stopped working, but I was able to fix it by using the reset button on the pod itself.
I just noticed that the Android version (as of today) has slightly fewer features than the iOS app: it doesn’t let me select the magnetic filter I added to the arm, but that’s just a detail.
Overall, it’s a very good product.

The Adaptalux studio lighting system is a great addition to my macro photography setup. It gives me great versatility thanks to its flexible lighting arms, and it allows me to explore different ways of seeing the subjects I photograph thanks to its UV lighting arms. Without a doubt, it’s one of the best investments I’ve made in my photography gear.

After years of lighting my macro shots with natural light or flash, I came across Daniel Aucoin’s videos, in which he uses Adaptalux. Adaptalux LED lighting has significantly increased my creativity. I enjoy sitting in front of small subjects such as mushrooms for half an hour or more, playing around with the lighting. The ability to control the light with my mobile phone is also brilliant – I can check the lighting in the viewfinder without accidentally moving the lamps! I currently use the Control Pod 3.0 and three white LED Lighting Arms.

Great quality, very pleased with the items and fast delivery. Well packaged, and eco- friendly. The only thing stopping 5 stars is , it would be neat to maybe have a bit more length on the lighting arms, and it would be nice to have a carry case that could be used in the field. I realise that you have gone the eco route, but still would be nice. But hey, thanks anyway for a great product

I bought the super adaptalux studio, you can immediately notice the quality of the manufacturing, the advisor for my purchase was very pleasant, responsive and very professional. My pods charge quickly. Yes it costs a certain price but it is really worth it, it is a very good investment. No regrets for this purchase, I did not take the Stabiliser base that they sold and I regret it, as well as the clamps to hold the objects. This will be the subject of a future order.

I got the full kit (not the starter) — each arm lets you adjust both the intensity and diffusion of light. The ultraviolet is truly fascinating, giving me an image that can’t be replicated with any other light source.

I’m still getting used to the flashes, but they look promising — you can mount them on the camera or use them separately. I recommend getting diffusers and an extra second pod, which is useful for lighting from two sides.

The only downside: my Pod 3 didn’t connect to the Android app, but it has its own on-body controls, and the flashes have their own controls that are even more convenient.

I bought a mixture of neutral, warm and cold light arms mostly for photographing fungi in the South of France. I’ve always been frustrated with using flash photography especially when I need to focus stack in the field. So far I’ve only experimented with some bracket fungi but the Adaptalux system allows me to put light where ever I want it and varying intensity. It takes a while to set up by the early results are impressive. I do a few experimental test shots, when I get the desired effect I set the camera to photostack and leave it to do its thing. I’ll certainly try UV lighting in the near future when I set up a studio.

When I first saw an Adaptalux video on YouTube, I thought this would be a good occasion to reconnect with macro photo.

So I bought a pod 3, a few lighting arms (including UV, I have a full spectrum camera, so that’s B&W pictures, works somehow as the white lightning arms in « normal » photography). I was amazed by the quality of the packaging.

In a month, I didn’t have time enough to shoot a lot (actually quite bad weather …), and, although I am still learning how to master the light with this new equipment, I already have other ideas (moss and fungis), and bought a xenon flash and pod mini, which came with the same perfect packaging.

I ordered the ADAPTALUX Nature LED macro lighting starter pack with one extra light arm. The set is compact and lightweight and easy to set up. Differences in light colour temperature are very apparent which gives great opportunities. The control pod can be easily manipulated either on the knob, or through the app.

Learning how to manipulate lights can be tricky, depending on what you want to do. This requires training.

Attaching the arms to the pod did not always give stable light; it depends on the orientation I bring in the arm.

All in, I’m learning, and apart from the small quirks I mentioned I really love the set.

I have been using Adaptalux for a few years and have just upgraded to the Control POD 3.0, these are great for my Forced Perspective (TOY) Photography. The kit can be used for all kinds of close-up, macro and product photography, for which I have just lent part of my kit to a camera club member to do glass products and also used for a Forced Perspective Workshop I ran at our camera club receiving great interest. You can start small and build up to suit each type of photography that you participate in. I have met Sam & Ben a few times and they are a great team to chat and deal with. These products are well worth considering.

I was happy with the efficient ordering process online, and how promptly I received my order. I was impressed with the design and build of the UV lighting system. It produces a much cleaner, and effective narrow band light that brings out the best in UV subjects. I like the way the system can be controlled through the Adaptalux app on my phone.

Firstly I would like to say how well built the pod/arms are. They feel premium quality to the touch. The Bluetooth connection with the mobile phone also works very well. I recently tried one of the very professional videos on how to utilise the lighting system etc. (the spinning ring one) and was impressed by the colouring I got from just one Bright White and Amber light. Hoping to buy more to expand my macro photography.

I absolutely LOVE how efficient and quick, not to mention FUN, this system is! I got the 5 port system with 3 lights (Blue, warm white and amber) and had amazing results from the start! Love finding new ways of creativity with Macro photography and Adaptalux does NOT disappoint! Being in Canada, the package was received in a reasonable time and I had it up and going within minutes. This is only the 2nd product review I’ve done in the past 35 Years (‘Im 55), anyways around 20 years ago I was diagnosed with a condition called fybromylgia which has now progressed to chronic pain in every joint (think constant toothache in your bones 24/7).

Point of my medical history ? well prior to finding this system my setup took days which by the time I was sorted I simply couldnt then actually take a dam photo because of the pain/tiredness, so I therefore rarely actualy got my camera out.

With this setup I think photography is going to be fun again, creative and spectacular I hope.

When I first saw the Adaptalux system on a YouTube video, its small size and flexibility blew me away, as did the possibility of controlling the intensity with an app. This was the first time I had seen this system, at least in Norway, and after some thought, I decided to order one. The system is just great and works like promised. Taking these pictures is still a big job, but the system makes it much easier.

Hi guys, after watching many of Ben’s YouTube tutorials for quite a while, I bought a pack of lighting equipment and found them to be of very good quality in both design and manufacturing. Haven’t had much time to use them but found them a little tricky at first but getting used to them, learning to get them in close enough to the subject and can see endless opportunities to capture macro abstracts. I found the controller wheel a little fiddly so pleased that you have put the controls on an app, however wouldn’t work on my mobile android poss a screen protector issue as it works brilliantly on my iPad. Now the seasons are changing hopefully plenty of fun to be had with the various set ups.

In the 4 years since my original purchase, I’ve seen the time and commitment you’ve put into these products. I originally bought the 5 arm control unit, you kindly repaired the power connection. Forward several years and I needed just a kiss of light in a series of photos and I returned to your site. The single arm control pod is perfect! The USB connection is greatly improved and my 4 year old arms continue to function perfectly! Thank you for your innovation and commitment to this amazing line of products!

So after a long time looking at the systems and trying to justify spending so much cash I thought what the hell and went ahead a purchased a system and im glad I did the lights are of really good quality as is the main unit all comes well packaged and worked straight out of the box. Only tried using it a couple of times so far but things look very promising although bit of a new learning curve for me.
If you are looking at this system then do it can highly recommend it.

The product is beautifully designed and fit for the job. My macro photography setup has become so much more user-friendly as the Adaptalux lights have a wonderfully small footprint compared to the much larger array of table lights I was using. The packaging deserves a special mention as it is extremely well-designed as befits high-quality equipment. The magnetic pop-on filters are simply inspirational. I wish I had bought from you years ago. I’ll be back for more kit in the very near future.

The ultraviolet lighting arm is a must-have for this surreal photography world. Simple setup – I produced fantastic otherworldly images in minutes. Just get used to working in the dark and be patient, adjusting exposures. There are lots of resources available on the website. Having used and loved the regular arms and the Xenon Flash arms I thought I would try the UV lighting. A good decision. They need a blacked out room and tripods because of long exposures. The results are spectacular and very different. Unlike other UV lights I have tried, these give off a pure UV light. If you are considering trying UVIVF photography you will enjoy it. I have 3 arms but plan to buy two more. I can recommend the Adaptalux UV arms.

II bought the complete kit, the one with the UV light. So far I have tested the UV lamps the results are really impressive, next test will be the flowers with and without tonic water. As for the colored lamps, I tried the paper effects and a few miniature photos and I am more and more impressed, the only regret is that I should have made this purchase much earlier. Now I’m impatiently waiting for the Flash Zenon to come back in stock.
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate you on your good work on your channel, the examples and ideas you give are very good and the explanations are always very clear.

First off, it works exactly as advertised. The arms snap in and out easily and produce beautiful color precisely where you want them. I started in macro photography last year and wasn’t pleased with the lighting solutions was using. I am so happy to have found the studio pod. It’s already had a real, and beautiful impact on my photos. Also, the background cards included with the purchase are extremely handy and were a greatly appreciated bonus.

Hey everyone, just wanted to share my thoughts on the Adaptalux Studio Ultimate Pack. As someone who loves tinkering with photography but isn’t a pro, this thing is a game-changer! Setting it up was surprisingly easy. No complicated manuals or tech jargon—just plug and play. And the results? Mind-blowing! The lighting is on point, bringing out details I never knew existed in my macro shots. But what I love most is how it’s helping me learn. Experimenting with different lighting setups is like a fun puzzle, and I can see myself improving with each shot. It’s like having a mini photography workshop in my own home.

I was impressed by the packaging of the delivered items. I felt like a kid on Christmas morning. I’ve been busy photographing wildlife outside, so I really haven’t had a change to use my A. Studio. As soon as we start getting some flora and fauna, I may try it outdoors. It’s still pretty bare on the landscape here in New England, USA. I will be setting up a macro area in my studio soon. I can wait to try it all out.

I started with the mini pods and lighting arms for lightweight easy additional lighting. However then purchased the main pod and the brighter lighting arms which provide that extra detailed focus of light. Great effects. I’m impressed with the products and excellent customer service. Looking forward to the new flash arms when they come out.

I received this pack in December and have begun using it to help light my macro subjects. The lighting arms make a big difference, allowing me to use a much shorter shutter time. I am waiting for the adapters to be delivered to allow the mounts I bought to be fitted to the Pod Minis. These adapters will enable me to position the pods and lighting arms more precisely and become more creative.

I recently received my Christmas package with the Adaptalux Pod starter kit. I’m impressed with the setup and ease of use of the pod with the cell phone app. My primary use will be macro photography of mosses using my Canon Rebel SL1 with EFS-60 macro lens. I am enjoying the ability to shoot without a flash yet still have plenty of light and be able to shut the f stop down for sufficient depth of field. The coloured background cards are handy!

I first purchased the Adaptalux Studio at the Photography Show around 2016 (ish) this was the original adaptalux pod. I bought a kit. Over the years I have added UV arms and upgraded to the new improved POD recently. I have also just purchased the green lighting arm for some Christmas projects. If you have not watched the YouTube Channel you really need to do so. So many ideas and very well presented.

I haven’t had a lot of opportunity to use the Adaptalux Studio that I purchased; however, the little I have used it, it seems to be a very versatile & easy set up. The pod and arms seem very well made. I plan on expanding my set up in the near future with some more lights, so I would definitely recommend it. Overall, I am very pleased with the product.

I commend Adaptalux for coming up with a very useful and well made resource for lighting a macro setup. The app too is well thought out and a joy to use.

In fairness since receiving my kit I have not had the time to give it the justice it deserves (partly due to recently completing a very complex desktop publishing project, in between regular hospital visits for cancer treatment).

However the tests I have done show the future potential of the lighting system admirably. being able to accurately position the continuous lights and selectively control individual light output via the app is fantastic.

I am sure my initial kit will be complemented in future as I gain more experience of Adaptalux Studio in a macro rig environment.

Working with constant lighting takes the guesswork out of the equation. The ability to place and project light in different colours and at different strengths continually makes you think about your composition and the many ways you could light your subject.
The portability of the system allows you to get down and dirty with your macro subjects and see the possibilities you never ever saw before.
In addition, you can add to the system as you go along or as you skills and photography needs develop.
The Adaptalux system is innovative and fun to use. Moreover, it’s a demonstration of what can be achieved when you have a clear goal.

My order was delivered Down Under in little more than a week and Sam/Ben answered a couple of beginner’s queries overnight.
The products are sturdy and versatile. I discovered that the pod plus lights were best used attached to a spare tripod. I’ve been trying to watch all the excellent videos. I’ve been trying out various lenses and thinking of imaginative subjects. This is going to be so much fun!!
