Adaptalux Macro Photography Awards

Macro Photographer of the Year 2025

Martin Buhlig

“Ant at the early beginning of spring”

Martin Buhlig.

I really like this picture. I like how the ant is looking into the camera, and even though I’m watching it, it almost seems as if it’s watching me. There’s something sublime about the moment, which only lasted for a short time, and I was able to capture it on this picture.

This incredible image of an ant peering over the edge of a leaf caught the attention of our judges and has won first place from over 1000 entries to Make MartinΒ Buhlig the Adaptalux Macro Photographer of the Year.
Martin wins the top prize in the Adaptalux Macro Photography Awards 2025. The exclusive trophy and certificate are on the way to our winner, along with an Adaptalux Starter Pack, A bonus Stabiliser 2.0 and Β£300 cash.

I lit these mushrooms from behind with my LED panel and sprayed water to add atmosphere and sparkle. I also focus stacked them for extra sharpness. They were shot in Marbury Country Park in Cheshire

A second congratulations to our runner-up Tony for the stunning image you see above.
