“FLOWER”
Ji Yuan.
This is the most common product of monosodium glutamate in our daily lives after hydrolysis and crystallization: glutamic acid. Each hydrolysis and repeated crystallization will result in different patterns, and different colors can be obtained through polarized light sources. Through hundreds of repeated productions, this unique pattern was selected, with 34 sets of 1360 shutter cycles and over 90 hours of shooting and post-processing accumulated over 20 days.

“Nicolea venustula“
Maรซl Grosse.
This is a picture of the marine worm Nicolea venustula. This specimen was caught in Idefjord, at the border between Sweden and Norway. It is a particularly beautiful species of polychaete with striking arborescent branchiae. I’m a researcher at Tjรคrnรถ Marine Laboratory studying marine diversity and in particular polychaetes. I am fascinated by the diversity of colours, shapes, lifestyles of all organisms in the sea, especially the smaller and less well known. Both for work and as a hobby, I take a lot of pictures of the tiny critters I find in the sea around the island where I live.
This picture was taken at the lab, in the studio with a canon eos5d camera on a vertical rail, a 70 mm sigma lens and using flashes. Light editing was done in Gimp (white balance, correction of background blackness, removal of dust and hot pixels).
