about adaptalux Sam Granger

Founder & Product Designer

Sam Granger studied Product Design (Bsc) at Bournemouth University. During his studies, he gathered a keen interest in photography and particularly macro. When it came to his final major project Sam saught to solve the problem of lighting his macro photographs by designing an innovative solution. This solution was developed into the prototype of the Adaptalux Studio, which helped Sam graduate with 1st class Honors.

Sam established Adaptalux Ltd in 2014 with the help of co-owner Martin and the successful funding of our first Kickstarter campaign. Sam’s long term thinking, combined with a pragmatic and practical approach to business has seen Adaptalux Grow from humble beginnings. The first year had Sam assembling products one by one from his garage, with occasional helping hands from friends and family. Now, Sam continues to focus his efforts on growing the business and improving our existing products whilst innovating for the future.

Sam lives in Lincolnshire, UK with his wife, Hannah and their 2 children; not forgetting their 2 Cats, Freddy and Mable. Sam loves to spend time experimenting in the kitchen and enjoying family time.

Aside from his love of photography and tinkering with electronic circuits, Sam’s interests lie in 3D printing, cars (BMW) and the occasional videogame. He is learning the piano and has an eclectic taste in music, everything from rap to rock!

Sam keeps fit, regularly playing tennis and squash with friends, and cycling around the countryside. He loves football – watching the premier league and cheering for Grimsby Town FC, go Mariners!
